Today I decided to make some pizza from scratch for the first time. And as it turned out, it was quite a success! Of course it did not taste like an original Italian pizza from the stone oven, but it was close and nothing remainned!
I hope you try the recipe, the dough is very easy to make.
Ingredients for the classic pizza dough (2 persons)
- 25g yeast (or 1 package of dry yeast)
- 1/2 teaspoon of sugar
- 250ml lukewarm water
- 500g wheat flour
- 1 teaspoon sea salt
- 1 tablespoon of Italian Olive Oil
Step by step
Start by mixing the yeast, sugar and water together and let it rest for 10 min until the mixture starts to foam. Add the flour and salt in a big bowl and form a hole in the middle where you first put in the yeast mixture followed by the tsp olive oil. Gentle mix everything togeher until it forms a dough. Then put it on a lightly flowered working surface and knead it 15 to 20 minutese until the dought is smooth and shine.
Now it's time to let it rest for at least an hour. Put the dough in bowl an cover it with a towel, best on a warm place so it can rise perfectly. After the resting time beat the air out of the dough ans split it into to portions. Roll them into balls and let them rest again for 60-90 minutes, but this time on a baking sheet and covered lightly with a cling film.
So now the pizza dough is ready!
Roll it out to the desired thickness but some olive oil and spices on top. Followed by the tomato sauce and the toppings of your liking. I added some feta and emmentaler cheese, tomato slices, olives, onions, and zucchini slices. (which I fried before in a pan).
But the pizza in the oven and let it bake at 180 Degrees C (360 degrees F) for about 25 minutes.
